Herbalife and Cita Sehat launch stunting prevention program in Gunungkidul in support of Ministry of Health Priorities

Herbalife Indonesia, a premier health and wellness company, community and platform, in collaboration with the Cita Sehat Foundation, has officially launched a community-based Stunting Prevention and Sanitation Program in Kedungkeris Village, Nglipar, Gunungkidul. Running from 2026 to 2028, the program combines nutrition and maternal health support, community education, capacity building, and improvements to healthcare and sanitation facilities.

The initiative supports Indonesia’s national stunting-reduction priorities and aligns with Herbalife’s 2024–2029 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Health to support the Healthy Living Community Movement (GERMAS) and stunting prevention program. Herbalife Indonesia will lead and fund the first phase in 2026, with Cita Sehat coordinating activities on the ground alongside local health workers and community stakeholders. Continued support from Herbalife Indonesia is planned for subsequent phases through 2028.

In its first year, the program is expected to directly benefit 275 people, including pregnant and breastfeeding women, prospective mothers, vulnerable households, Posyandu cadres and family-planning field workers.

At the launch held at Pos Kesehatan Kalurahan (Poskesdes) Kedungkeris, Herbalife presented seven child growth-monitoring equipment kits, one for each Posyandu in Kedungkeris Village, while nutrition kits were provided to pregnant and breastfeeding women and prospective mothers. Herbalife and the Kedungkeris Village administration also signed a joint commitment to support the program’s implementation.

Oktrianto Wahyu Jatmiko, Director & General Manager of Herbalife Indonesia
, said preventing stunting requires an approach that extends beyond nutrition. “Stunting prevention requires a comprehensive and sustainable approach. Therefore, Herbalife’s efforts go beyond nutrition to include behavioral change education, capacity building for local healthcare workers, and improvements to the surrounding environment and sanitation. Through collaboration with Cita Sehat, the local government, and the people of Kedungkeris Village, we are committed to ensuring that this program delivers meaningful and relevant benefits to the community,” said Oktrianto.

Ali Mujianto, Director of Cita Sehat Foundation,
added that a community-based approach is key to ensuring that interventions are targeted and effective. Cita Sehat will work with village midwives, lactation counselors, and Posyandu cadres, to provide direct assistance to vulnerable families.

The program is structured around three interconnected pillars: nutrition and health; community education and capacity building; and improvements to healthcare and sanitation facilities. Activities include nutrition support, pregnancy and breastfeeding assistance, training for village cadres; child growth and development education, as well as PHBS education and phase support for adequate toilets, village health facilities, and drinking water networks through 2028.

Rusdi Martono, Head of Kedungkeris Village (Kalurahan Kedungkeris)
expressed his appreciation to all parties who have committed to supporting the stunting prevention and management in their respective areas, including Herbalife’s support in the construction of the Posyandu facility in Kedungkeris. “This building is not just a symbol, it is also an additional facility and resource to strengthen our spirit and efforts in preventing stunting in the village of Kedungkeris,” he said.

The Pos Kesehatan Kalurahan (Poskesdes) Kedungkeris was inaugurated in August. Herbalife’s previous integrated health post (Posyandu) in Sendowo Kidul was changed to a Poskesdes, on the request of the local health authority as the facility has met the standards required for a village health post (Poskesdes).

Through this three-year initiative, Herbalife Indonesia aims to address the interconnected nutritional, behavioural and environmental factors that contribute to stunting. Together with Cita Sehat, government stakeholders, local health workers and the Kedungkeris community, Herbalife seeks to strengthen local capabilities and create healthier conditions in which children can grow and thrive.
