Herbalife Indonesia reinforces Sharia Commitment, highlights PLBS Certification as growth driver

Herbalife Indonesia, a premier health and wellness company, community and platform, recently highlighted the strategic importance of the Sharia-Compliant Direct Selling Certification (PLBS), issued by the National Sharia Council of the Indonesian Ulema Council (DSN-MUI), in strengthening its business foundation and supporting sustainable growth.

As demand rises for ethical and trustworthy entrepreneurship models, the PLBS certification enhances regulatory compliance while boosting market confidence and expanding the company’s business ecosystem. This certification affirms that Herbalife Indonesia’s operational framework and entire business processes are fully aligned with the principles of Islamic Sharia.

Oktrianto Wahyu Jatmiko, Director & General Manager of Herbalife Indonesia, said that since obtaining the certification a year ago, it has significantly strengthened confidence among Distributors. “We are seeing strong optimism across our network. PLBS provides clearer direction for growth in Indonesia, where consumers place high importance on halal products and ethical business practices,” he said.

The company emphasized that its continued growth is also driven by high-quality nutrition innovation, personalized support from Distributors, and ongoing healthy active lifestyle education.

M Bukhori Muslim, Deputy Secretary of the Executive Board of DSN-MUI, stated that, together with the Herbalife Indonesia’s Sharia Advisory Board (DPS), regular evaluations are conducted to ensure the business model remains fully compliant with Sharia principles, free from elements such as gharar (uncertainty) and maysir (gambling). “PLBS certification addresses previous concerns and reinforces trust. Distributors can confidently grow their business within a system that is fair, transparent, and Sharia-compliant,” said Bukhori.

Fauzan Sugiyono, Sharia Supervisor of DSN-MUI, added that the Sharia Certificate from DSN-MUI is awarded to companies that meet a stringent set of requirements. These include specific criteria such as the business and marketing model, product compliance, halal certification from the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) for food, beverages, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals, as well as proof of membership in the Indonesian Direct Selling Association (APLI).

“We encourage distributors to conduct their business with sincere intention and full conviction. The PLBS certification provides formal Sharia assurance, eliminating any doubt regarding the sharia integrity of the business model,” he further said.

This Sharia Certification complements the Halal Certification already secured for all Herbalife products.

By aligning global standards with local Sharia values, Herbalife Indonesia aims to advance public health while empowering communities through responsible and trustworthy business opportunities.
