Herbalife, LA Galaxy and A Place Called Home Distribute 1,500 Backpacks to South Los Angeles Students

Annual event provides students with essential school supplies and support to help them succeed in the new school year

Herbalife, the LA Galaxy and A Place Called Home (APCH) teamed up to provide South Los Angeles students with backpacks filled with essential school supplies, including pencils, crayons, rulers, notebooks, calculators, pens and books, to help them start the school year with the tools they need to succeed. LA Galaxy mascot Cozmo joined players Robert Taylor, Harbor Miller and Riqui Puig, along with Herbalife volunteers and APCH members, helped distribute 1,500 backpacks and celebrate the start of a new school year with students and their families.

“Our partnership with the LA Galaxy and APCH is built on a shared commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for young people and strengthening the communities we serve,” said Hanan Wajih, Chief Marketing Officer at Herbalife. “As students head back to school, we’re proud to help provide the tools and confidence they need to begin the year prepared, while sending a simple but important message to every child and family: your community supports you, believes in you and is invested in your success.”

The event was made possible through the Joint Community Partnership Fund, an initiative between Herbalife and the LA Galaxy that supports community programs focused on education, nutrition, wellness and sports. Herbalife and the LA Galaxy have supported the Back-to-School Backpack Distribution for close to a decade.

“Partnering with Herbalife and A Place Called Home to help students prepare for the school year has become one of our favorite traditions at the LA Galaxy,” said Gabriel Osollo, Director of Community Relations and Foundation at the LA Galaxy. “Every year, we're reminded that sports have the power to bring people together and create meaningful impact beyond the field. We're proud to support students and families as they head into a new school year with the confidence and resources they need to succeed.”

In addition to its support through the Joint Community Partnership Fund, Herbalife has partnered with APCH for more than two decades through its Herbalife Casa program, which partners with organizations to provide access to nutritious meals, educational resources, and safe spaces for children and communities worldwide.

“Every student deserves to feel excited and prepared as they begin a new school year, but we know that the back-to-school season can also create additional stress for families,” said Norayma Cabot, CEO at APCH. “Through the continued partnership of organizations like Herbalife and the LA Galaxy, we’re able to meet families where they are and help ensure our young people have the supplies, encouragement and support they need to begin the school year with confidence.”
